I am so excited for the chance to win free tickets!! The women that I am thinking I would love to go is a dear friend that is just now starting to Rise and Shine she has had a rough year and now with GOD and GOD alone she is rising so high and shining her smle alone makes the wonder what happened to her!!! One of my friends is battling breast cancer for the second time and the other friend has been laid off and unemployed for over a year. This would be such a treat for them. ReplyDeleteI have enjoyed Lysa TerKeurst and the Proverbs 31 ministry for a couple of years now. Through the ministry I felt encouraged to step out and say yes when asked to join a women's Bible study at our church. It was very new for me. Even though I have been raised in the church and a Christian most of my life, I am a very shy and quiet person. Through my Bible study, I have gained a wonderful friend and accountability partner. She is a sweet sister in Christ and I am blessed to call her friend.

ReplyDeleteI think my friend Starla deserves it. She has been there for me for 10 yrs and counting. We married brothers on the same day. Such a blessing she is to my life. She has got my back and my respect. I love her so much! She has been through and awful lot in the past few years. We had a the big flood of 2008 here in Cedar Rapids, IA and she lost her home, a baby, her grandfather, aunt and uncle. Such a rough time but God sustained her and blessed her with a baby boy that is now 2 yrs old and she loves her brand new kitchen that now has her personality all over in it. It is so nice! Whether we win or not we will be there this year. We do not want to miss out on what God has to offer His people that day. God Bless and see you soon = )

ReplyDeleteMy very special friend is my 14 year old daughter Moriah. Last year my family moved to Iowa for my husband to accept God's call to pastor a church. While it has been a blessing to move here, it has had the typical challenges that face a teen girl in high school. She has put on a little weight & her classmates delight in calling her names that let her know they think she is fat. I have talked and cried with her on several occassions & have prayed for her to be comfortable & confident in who she is in Christ. I would love for her to be able to attend the Rise & Shine Retreat with me & be encouraged in her walk with Christ. My friend is also my sister and her name is Michelle. She has had a rough year. After 4 years she ended it with her boyfriend who was cheating on her. Now Satan is having a hay day with her mind. ReplyDeleteMy friend has been a solid shoulder for me as I lost my baby in womb at 18 weeks back in June. We were 'supposed' to be pregnant together, but God had other plans for my baby boy. She has been a huge support, comfort and friend to me through this time, even while she birthed her baby boy a few weeks ago. She's been so understanding as I hold him, gaze at him and cry over what I'm missing but what I'm so joyful that she has! She's shed tears with me and questioned with me. Through all the trials of the past 18 months she has continued to be a wonderful mother to her 2 kids & good friend. I heard this Rise & Shine Retreat on the radio on my way to work and instantly thought of my friend Terry. We have known each other for quite a few years but became closer in the last year and half. With our spouses we have started having small groups and have really grown in our friendship during this time. We have shared things with each other and know that we can trust one another. We can turn to each other in good times, when struggling, in need of a prayer or just to say Hi.
ReplyDeleteTerry went to a routine doctor appointment and her doctor told her that she needed to take one day a month and do something for herself. This would be a great way to spend that day and just what the Doctor ordered by a day of worship and to grow in faith and spiritually. I have not been to a retreat and would love to go with her!

My friend Jan really needs this day! She is going through a rough time right now financially and is having to put her house up for sale. Her husband died a few years ago. He went out to move his van so he could shovel snow and died in his van! It's been very hard for Jan and she is struggling with finances and she needs to know God is there for her even in these dark times!

We remain best friends and we are now both 41 years old. We have been on this life journey together 36 years through bible camps, high school angst and rebellion, marriage, kids and all the things that come with the years. Through it all we have grown up and we have also grown up in our faith. She is my biggest encourager and my prayer partner extrordinaire. We both love Proverbs 31 devotions and Lysa's writings have stirred up many conversations betweeen us. ReplyDeleteI've known Jenni for 2 years now. We are currently in a small group together. She is an inspiring stay at home mom. As someone who is about to become a stay at home mom she has left me feeling encouraged about that decision. My friend Jamie and I plan to attend! We have been friends for 8 years...actually we met at an Orchard Hill Church Sunday School event! Because of many life changes, we now live 3 hours apart but have remained "everyday" friends, Praise the Lord for the Telephone! Jamie holds me accountable in many areas including my marriage (she'll actually stick up for my husband when I'm complaining!), parenting, and my walk with the Lord. She is an "All-American" friend to me! We are refreshed just by being in the same room (with our feet up, of course!). However, because of the miles between us this only happens once a year. I am a mom of 4 - Jamie a mom of 3, including a newly adopted little boy from China. We cannot wait 1)to visit Orchard Hill again 2)to be in the same room! 3)to hear from the Lord!
